Here is the February/March issue of Bourne End's community magazine "Target"

.

Approval for the plans to create a Marlow Film Studio is the main story on the front page of the issue. Then the story about the Year of the Stamps tells readers about the wonderful fund raiser for 2025. Also on the front is a poster advertising a Volunteers Fair at the Community Centre and there’s hopes that it will encourage people to try volunteering.

Information on page two has been redesigned but still has all the usual information. Then onto the Community Centre pages with details of the films at the Royalty Cinema then lots of other events taking place during these two months especially a Valentine’s Day Concert with local crooner Andrew Bourn. There’s also details of a new fund raiser for 2026.

Phil Laybourn’s calendar has raised £13,300 for the Thames Hospice and that features on page 7 along with information from Wooburn Residents Association. Memories of Tim Durant are on page 11 and so many people will remember this lovely man who walked local footpaths with his collies. Farewell Tim.

Details of new activities at the Sports Club can be found on page 13 and they’ll take place every day and during the day. Certainly worth checking out. On page 15 the ticket man from Bourne End has retired and his was the familiar face in the ticket office at the station. Cheers Tony. Fun Night pictures are on page 18 and it was a lovely occasion – but rainy.

A pub crawl for the Bourne End One Place Study Group features on page 20 although many no longer exist but there were lots of laughs and memories. James Corden’s new project features a choir and his inspiration came from a Blend Choir concert and saw how much pleasure it gave his parents – regulars with the Blend Choir.

Two fabulous Take Your Target pictures from far flung places are on page 31 along with thanks to everyone for generous donations. Then on page 32 Wendy Mulhall talks about Scintillating Salsa as she has returned to the dance floor after decades. And Bourne End mourns the death of royal modelmaker of state carriages – the wonderful Peter Smith.

Lots more to read in this first issue of 2026.
