Here is the October/November issue of Bourne End's community magazine "Target"
.
Two achievements feature on the front page of this issue with the award of Runner Up in the Bucks Best Kept Village Competition then the return of Pedr Charlesworth from cycling round-the-world. Congratulations to everyone involved. As the autumn issue it also has the date of the December Fun Night in Bourne End. 2025 has flown by. On page four there’s a story about the new lady running the bar at the Community Centre. Lana has settled in and enjoys being part of the community. Why not drop in, have a drink and a chat. Also on page four is an appeal for volunteers, especially a new Hon Treasurer as Trevor is now taking a well-earned retirement.
On page six there’s information about Forum Players plans for the 2026 pantomime which will be Robinson Crusoe. Still time to join them if you would like to be involved in the production. Their report also includes a tribute to Leigh Robinson who was their secretary, and was involved in so many ways, before her death. RIP. On page seven Wooburn Residents Association talk about a very successful Duck Race at Parkfest then give details of their plans for a festive event with Santa Comes to Wooburn on Saturday 29 November. They will welcome Santa at 4pm but there will be activities for the children in the Wooburn Club from 3pm to 6pm.

Party time at Bingo with pictures is on page 11 as they celebrate the success of their Friday sessions. Then on page 12 there’s important information about self-assessment requirements as the country moves to Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. On page 13 see four people who took their copy of the community magazine to lovely places. On pages 18 and 19 there are pictures from local events through the summer. Don’t miss the flower festival pictures from St Paul’s Church. River News on page 23 talks about the hot weather effects on the river wildlife. Bells get technical on pages 26 and 27 with details of the wonderful sound created at St Paul’s Church as they ring through the valley.
Take advantage of the Stamp Offer featured on page 29 and use them on Christmas mail and all postage. Money raised helps the magazine. Past Times on page 32 talks maps and then shows pictures from then and now. Showing how important the arrival of the railway was to our villages. On page 33 bound copies of Target magazine are now up-to-date in the library thanks to funding by the now defunct residents association. From volume one to volume 60 they are a good read as well as a wonderful local history archive. Many thanks. This autumn issue is packed with lots of interest and provides details of activities through the two months.
Target Magazine is published every 2 months by Bourne End (Bucks) Community Association and is distributed free to around 5,000 households.
