Make a note of the date – it’s Friday 7 December – and TV personality Lorraine Kelly will assist Emma with switching on the new light for this year. All the usual attractions from hot dogs to Rebellion Beer, from singing to face painting and a special funfair for the little ones to ride to their hearts content. Fun Night starts at 5pm.
All around the centre of the village you’ll find the Fun Night message. Everyone will be involved and everywhere you look someone will be doing something to be part of the occasion. Hope for good weather, like the last two years, and spend your time outdoors, under the village lights, and just enjoying the experience.
Parking will be free in the Wakeman Road car park – courtesy of Wooburn and Bourne End Parish Council. Once again Space Pod of Bourne End are sponsoring the very special and individual children’s light that will be switched on at 5.30pm. For a chance to meet TV’s own Lorraine Kelly – just be there for the switch on.
Schools, Scouts and a host of other organisations will be part of the event – from carol singing to roasting chestnut and other young people will want you to check out their ideas for fund raising. It’s all in a good cause and to raise money for local charities. Rotary Club of Cookham Bridge members will be setting things in motion during the afternoon along with a host of other helpers.

At the library there will be activities for the children and a taste of mulled wine. A guest ale at the Community Centre bar will attract many and you won’t be able to miss the reindeer – they’re special. Father Christmas will have his usual grotto in the car showrooms so children can have a quiet word about what they want him to bring this year.
As usual there will be a giant tombola to keep everyone involved as they wait in line to see Santa. Special for 2018 will be a ‘top quality tombola’ with very special prizes that have been donated – from holidays to days out. And shops will be open late to hand out treats and provide some retail therapy. New attractions will include pubs offering tasty treats to keep you going. It’s a must – so be there on Fun Night.
