Here is the April/May issue of Bourne End's community magazine "Target"

.

Front page of this spring issue is dominated by new planning proposals for an extra 1,350 homes as part of the new Local Plan. The story continues inside on page 10 with a call for action when the official public consultation runs through August. Our community market provides the good news story as it celebrates its 15th Anniversary and its great local popularity. Thank you to all involved.

Community Centre news runs over four pages with lots of great events over the two months and a ‘save the date’ for early June. Wooburn Residents Association publicise their annual fund raising event in June with the Summer Fete on the green. They have extended their opening hours to make the event more of a festival with live music.

On page 8 there’s an appeal to everyone from the parish council working party as they prepare this year’s submission to the Best Kept Village Competition. Everyone can make a difference to make the villages look wonderful.

At the invitation of the Friends of Bourne End Library a prison doctor, and author, will talk life treating those behind bars. Read all about it on page 14. Lovely spread of photos from the Volunteer Fair can be found on pages 18 and 19.    There’s another one planned for September. Sadly Target says goodbye to the River News reporters as they move on to a new location. There’s an appeal with their last report on page 23 asking for another river correspondent to step up and talk about life in and around the River Thames. On page 29 there’s a chance to take one last look at Peter Smith’s wonderful miniatures of royal carriages before they go the Royal Mews. We will miss them and you Peter.

Past Times on page 32 features a riverside house with a passion for rowing and those involved in around the turn of the last century. Another life. As usual there are lots of reports from churches and local groups that make this such an lovely area and community.

Lots more to read in this first issue of 2026.
