Fun Night dominates the front page of this festive issue with lots of information about the big night. A change of location for the light countdown took the event to the Community Centre for safety. TV favourite Lorraine Kelly, along with the light designer Mia Groszmann, pressed the switch at 5.15pm.
Litter pickers are thanked by Wooburn Residents Association on page 3 while on page 4 the charity card shop at St Dunstan’s celebrates a special anniversary. On page 10 there’s pictures from the opening of the Peace Garden on Penny’s Corner. And below Bourne End Cards & Gifts have a £50 gift voucher – so fill in your name and take it into the shop.
Target distributors feature on page 11 at the Flag Day coffee morning and china sale. Thanks to them for their volunteering through the year. On page 12 we find Pedr now en route to South America alongside details of the illuminated boat parade and the big Christmas tree on Wooburn Green. Penguins feature on page 15 as they visited Headway day centre at the community centre for a special occasion.
Ken Townsend provides a report on page 24 as he was invited to an American university to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles Abbey Road album. Ken worked at Abbey Road and had tales galore for his audience. On page 25 Cores End United Reformed Church talk about a special nature area they plan behind the cemetery at the church.
