Bourne End Twinning Association

Bourne End Twinning Association was formed in 2003 when we set up a link with a delightful village near Le Havre called Octeville sur mer. Each year we exchange visits for a long weekend alternating between the two villages. Language is never a problem as sign language, dictionaries and a good sense of humour are all that are needed. However, for those members who do wish to ‘brush up’ on their French we have friendly relaxed classes available. The weekends are always good fun with an excellent balance between organised day trips and time spent in the homes of our ‘counterparts’. Many lifelong friendships have been formed over the years and often members from both villages spend time together apart from the official ‘twinning’ weekends

In between visits we hold a variety of fund raising events here in Bourne End throughout the year, such as barn dances, garden party and meals together; the profits from these cover costs of excersions and events when our Octeville friends visit us - a favour amply returned when we visit them. Our members from Bourne End and the surrounding district enjoy our local events when the camaraderie is palpable.  We also have a thriving choir who entertain locally at Christmas and we are able to enjoy their talents at some of our events during the year
